Last week I saw a flock of barnacle geese that come to a pond in a nearby little park every year. For some reason they stop here, in the middle of the city, on their way to wherever it is they winter.
That and the recent bleak weather made me wish for a warmer and lighter place to winter too.
I'm making something with the lightest colours from my plant-dyed silk stash. They are warm-ish pastels but there's also something wintry about them. They are a wishful thought or a memory more than the happy reality of summer.
I'm smocking them in matched threads to emphasize the light and shadow in the honeycomb recesses.
