I'm hoping this will be an all-year series. The idea is to make a piece every month dyed with what I find in the garden. For January it was privet from out very old evergreen hedge and last year's cherry leaves (still plenty of tannin in them). I used iron to create darker areas and to modify the colour.
The January feather is paired with a fragment of an eggshell. This I made from copper and it's darkened and burnished on the outside and has shiny copper stars scratched in the surface on the inside. The year has just hatched from the world egg.
This necklace will be in the shop update tonight.
